NieR: Automata is here! A game that we never thought would actually get made after the original bombed so badly, NieR: Automata is everything that we could actually want from a game, and then some. It's a work of pure genius.
This week we have a good chat about NieR, and Yoko Taro's games in general. Then we also have a chat about games that are influenced by other media - be that film, literature, or the higher art forms such as ballet, theatre, or opera.
As it's the first week of March, we also have a good chat about the games that are being released this month, and it's almost intimidating just how much stuff is coming... let alone that we have a new piece of hardware to enjoy in the Nintendo Switch!
If you like the music from the podcast this week, here's the tracklist for you:
Tell Your World - Hatsune Miku
NieR: Automata - Main Menu theme
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Main Theme
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - The Fields of Ard Skellig

We have a bit of a different episode for the Digitally Uploaded podcast this week; it's all about the Internet Archive and the games it stores on its digital database.
Matt C, Matt S and James all picked a game from the Internet Archive to play, and reflect on in the podcast; how has it held up, and whether it's worthwhile having an archive with which to access these kinds of games (of course it is!)
Enjoy the podcast, and be sure to check out the Internet Archive to relive some of your own favourite games!
The music used in this week's podcast includes:

This week we have one of the DDNet team, Brad, on the show to talk about his hands-on experience with the Nintendo Switch, following a media hands-on event thrown by Nintendo.
Then we talk about Fire Emblem, given that Nintendo has recently held a Direct online show to show off that the company has no fewer than four games in the series on the way for various platforms.
Finally, we talk about censorship, after discovering that Gal*Gun: Double Peace has been banned from sale in New Zealand.

Monday Jan 16, 2017
The big news last week was, of course, the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo held an hour-long online event to reveal all the details about its newest console and the games that we'd be playing on it, and we have a good chat about that.
Then we talk about the tragic news that Scalebound, the PlatinumGames-developed Xbox One exclusive, has been cancelled, and with it went the last reason that many of us might have had to invest in an Xbox One.
Finally, we chat about the price of games, and discuss how difficult it's becoming to have a sustainable game development business in this day and age. And, of course, the consumers lose out when their favourite developers go under.

Welcome to the very first podcast for a year that is going to be seriously intense in terms of games.
Usually January is a time where game developers and publishers take a bit of a break, but oh no, not this year. This year there's going to be an endless stream of quality games from the start. This month along we've got a new Miku game, Yakuza, Kingdom Hears, Tales, Resident Evil, and Atelier Shallie on the PlayStation Vita. Oh, and a little something called Gravity Rush 2.
Come listen as we chat about the games of 2017 that we're looking forward to (and already playing), and then we take a little trip into the simulation genre to love RollerCoaster Tycoon, and cry a little over Rollercoaster Dreams, the first 0.5/5 review of the year.
