We go retro with The Internet Archive (Digitally Uploaded 2017, Episode #6)
Monday Feb 13, 2017
Monday Feb 13, 2017
We have a bit of a different episode for the Digitally Uploaded podcast this week; it's all about the Internet Archive and the games it stores on its digital database.
Matt C, Matt S and James all picked a game from the Internet Archive to play, and reflect on in the podcast; how has it held up, and whether it's worthwhile having an archive with which to access these kinds of games (of course it is!)
Enjoy the podcast, and be sure to check out the Internet Archive to relive some of your own favourite games!
The music used in this week's podcast includes:
Party, Party - IA
Wood Land - Wiz 'n' Liz
Title Theme - Sim City (SNES)
The Band Awakens - Rayman

A little over a week after the release of Resident Evil 7, we also have a chat about horror. What makes for a good horror game, and is RE7 a good example of that?
We also say hello to a new podcast host, James! Another Aussie journo that's been around the traps a while now. So, enjoy the show, and let us know if there's anything else you'd like for us to cover.

It's always a good chat time with the DDNet crew!
This week, Matt and Matt chat about fighting games (specifically EVO), terrible games on PlayStation 4 (there's too many of those at the moment), and the exciting news that Square Enix will be publishing an Avengers game.
And, of course, plenty of great music!

This week we have one of the DDNet team, Brad, on the show to talk about his hands-on experience with the Nintendo Switch, following a media hands-on event thrown by Nintendo.
Then we talk about Fire Emblem, given that Nintendo has recently held a Direct online show to show off that the company has no fewer than four games in the series on the way for various platforms.
Finally, we talk about censorship, after discovering that Gal*Gun: Double Peace has been banned from sale in New Zealand.
Catch us on our social media accounts! And Happy Lunar New Year for later on in the week!

The big news last week was, of course, the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo held an hour-long online event to reveal all the details about its newest console and the games that we'd be playing on it, and we have a good chat about that.
Then we talk about the tragic news that Scalebound, the PlatinumGames-developed Xbox One exclusive, has been cancelled, and with it went the last reason that many of us might have had to invest in an Xbox One.
Finally, we chat about the price of games, and discuss how difficult it's becoming to have a sustainable game development business in this day and age. And, of course, the consumers lose out when their favourite developers go under.
Catch us on our social medias!

Welcome to the very first podcast for a year that is going to be seriously intense in terms of games.
Usually January is a time where game developers and publishers take a bit of a break, but oh no, not this year. This year there's going to be an endless stream of quality games from the start. This month along we've got a new Miku game, Yakuza, Kingdom Hears, Tales, Resident Evil, and Atelier Shallie on the PlayStation Vita. Oh, and a little something called Gravity Rush 2.
Come listen as we chat about the games of 2017 that we're looking forward to (and already playing), and then we take a little trip into the simulation genre to love RollerCoaster Tycoon, and cry a little over Rollercoaster Dreams, the first 0.5/5 review of the year.

Digitally Uploaded #18: Goichi Suda and fanservice
Tuesday Dec 20, 2016
Tuesday Dec 20, 2016
This week on the podcast we talk about a couple of topics near and dear to our hearts. The first in Goichi Suda, one of the true gaming artists. Transgressive, progressive, and punkish, Suda-san's games are always distinctive and unique, and he is one of the reasons that we continue to love games as much as we do.
We also have a special guest this week; Lachlan Snell is an Aussie indie developer, who specialises in producing Japanese-style visual novels. He's got a kickstarter underway at the moment for Alluna and Brie and the Tentacle Menace, and he joins us to talk about fan service, visual novels, and Japanese games in general.
As always, you can catch us on Twitter. Otherwise, enjoy the podcast!
